چکیده
We present the fabrication of core-shell-satellite [email protected]2-Pt nanostructures and demonstrate that LSPR excitation core Au nanoparticle can induce plasmon coupling effect to initiate photocatalytic hydrogen generation from decomposition formic acid. Further studies suggest induces a strong local electric field between Pt nanoparticles on SiO2 shell, which enables creation hot electrons non-plasmonic-active participate evolution reaction surface. In addition, small shell thickness is required in order obtain plamon achieve efficient activities for generation.

Plasmon-induced hot-electron generation at nanoparticle/metal-oxide interfaces for photovoltaic and photocatalytic devices
95 The outstanding light-trapping and electromagnetic-fieldconcentrating properties of surface plasmons open up a wide range of applications in the field of plasmonics1. Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) can occur in properly designed nanostructures in which confined free electrons oscillate with the same frequency as the incident radiation and eventually enter resonance, giving rise t...
متن کاملSequestering High-Energy Electrons to Facilitate Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation in CdSe/CdS Nanocrystals
T generation of H2 via photocatalytic water splitting has received considerable attention in recent years as efforts to optimize solar energy devices have accelerated. 3 Although visible photons are sufficiently energetic to split H2O and generate high-energy H2 fuel (requiring a 1.23 eV difference of its coupled half-reactions), materials that demonstrate this in any great yield are still not ...
متن کاملDirect evidence of plasmon enhancement on photocatalytic hydrogen generation over Au/Pt-decorated TiO2 nanofibers.
Direct evidence of plasmon-enhanced H2 generation is observed in photocatalytic water reduction by using TiO2 electrospun nanofibers co-decorated with Au and Pt nanoparticles through dual-beam irradiation. The Au/Pt/TiO2 nanofibers exhibit certain activity for H2 generation under single irradiation at 420 nm that excites the defect/impurity states of TiO2. Significantly, when secondary irradiat...
متن کاملLight-Directed Tuning of Plasmon Resonances via Plasmon-Induced Polymerization Using Hot Electrons
The precise morphology of nanoscale gaps between noble-metal nanostructures controls their resonant wavelengths. Here we show photocatalytic plasmon-induced polymerization can locally enlarge the gap size and tune the plasmon resonances. We demonstrate light-directed programmable tuning of plasmons can be self-limiting. Selective control of polymer growth around individual plasmonic nanoparticl...
متن کاملTheoretical predictions for hot-carrier generation from surface plasmon decay
Decay of surface plasmons to hot carriers finds a wide variety of applications in energy conversion, photocatalysis and photodetection. However, a detailed theoretical description of plasmonic hot-carrier generation in real materials has remained incomplete. Here we report predictions for the prompt distributions of excited 'hot' electrons and holes generated by plasmon decay, before inelastic ...
